Land that was once a central Otago high country sheep station is now a flourishing vineyard. Sheep and Rabbits co-existed on the land for quite some time but the sheep couldn't keep up with the nocturnal activity of the Rabbits and in the end were driven off the ranch- they were last seen heading north. The owner of Rabbit Ranch - Mr McGregor planted some vines and tried unsuccessfully to reduce the Rabbit population. He continues to spend most of his day chasing rabbits and drinking good plonk, and each Easter he is rumoured to release six wee rabbits into his neighbours vegetable garden, but that's another story... - winery notes
